Upcoming virtual reality (VR) compatible racing title Project CARS is set to offer a wide range of vehicles to master when it launches next year. Those looking forward to the title have long been asking after one specific addition; karts. Today the developer has finally confirmed that it will be adding this vehicle type into the full experience, which features full support for the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD) on PC.

As the developer reveals, kart racing served as the starting point for professional racing drivers such as Michael Schumacher, Lewis Hamilton and Jeff Gordon. In Project CARS players will be able to experience two different types of kart racing. The first use 125cc shifter karts for short circuits while the other use powerful 250cc Superkarts that can reach speeds of up to 160mph. They join other vehicle groups such as super cars and track day cars.

Project CARS is now looking to launch on 17th March 2015 in the US and 20th March in the EU on PC, Mac, Linux, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The PlayStation 4 version of the title is also expected to receive full support for the Project Morpheus HMD whenever that device may release. A Wii U version of the title is also in the works for an unknown date. VRFocus will continue to follow Project CARS, reporting back with all of the latest updates.
