The Texas Lone Star Grand Prix, Inc., Team is constantly looking for different kinds of racing events to create enthusiasm about family based kart racing. For the second year kart racers will have the opportunity to race two circuits in one weekend for one podium. This year 2d2w will be held at Oklahoma Motorsports Complex in Norman, Oklahoma on September 6 & 7, 2014.

Kart racers will be joined this year by Super Motard racers who will compete on the same two tracks as the kart racers. “There has been a great deal of excitement about adding the Moto element this year,” says LSGP team member and ideas man, Donnie Cluck. “We are also excited about the Super Warrior Class which will combine the points of kart racers (shifter of TaG) who also race the Moto class for a unique class and podium,” he continued.

The inaugural 2d2w event last year was the first kart race ever held inside Texas Motor Speedway. It presented very hot dry weather and a long, fast track on Saturday and a wet, cool and more technical track on Sunday. Entry numbers were good across the board.

Oklahoma Motorsports Complex has hosted national kart races for years and is a very well-liked track by both the karting and Moto communities. There is a great deal of excitement in both communities about this year’s race.

Kart race classes will include:

Stock Honda Expert (formerly Stock Honda Light)
Stock Honda Masters (formerly Stock Honda Heavy)
Stock Honda Junior
Modified/ICC/Honda CR250F
TaG Masters
TaG Sr.
TaG Jr.
TaG Cadet
Chonda (Clone) Light
Chonda (Clone) Heavy
Yamaha KT 100

With the LSGP partnership with Mark Dismore comes a change in the Yamaha KT 100 Class. The KT 100 class will be a 4 hole can class as opposed the pipe class typically held at previous LSGP events. The can is easier on clutches and increase engine longevity. While there is a trade off in horsepower the cost savings seem to justify it.

A Texas style BBQ is in the works for Saturday evening at the conclusion of racing with a tentative menu of brisket, pork tenderloin and chicken. Your wristband is your ticket for a plate of BBQ.

All entry for karts will be online and racers will qualify on one set of MG HZ (Red) tires purchased from LSGP. Spec oil is Motul Grand Prix 2T and spec fuel is VP Racing MS 98 or C-12 at the racer’s discretion.

Racers are welcome to bring their own oil and fuel or purchase them from Oklahoma Motorsports Complex.

As is typical with LSGP events early entry means a lower cost to the racer.

All entry for Motos will be at the track.
