UPDATE ON CALLAWAY GRAND PRIX. Yesterday during the city council meeting.
I want to apologize to all SIRA members and thank you all for supporting our community. See you next year.....g I asked Mr. Tucker. (sorry not the mayor in my books) one last time if he was going to support the Callaway Grand Prix race in September?
I have already asked him two different times and this time was no different. He said he will continue to think about it. I told him I don't have much more time and I need a definite answer and he would not give me one. So I am sorry to inform everyone that there will not be a Callaway Grand Prix this year I have spoke with SIRA and they have assured me that they will be willing to come back next year.
I understand that the Mr. Tucker and the park board do not agree with the firing of its park employees, but why would you want to make the park and the city suffer because of your personal feelings? The Callaway Grand Prix race put $2500 into the park restricted fund, which we hope to grow and put towards new park equipment sometime. It also brought approximately 350 SIRA friends and family members who will shop at our stores and eat at our restaurants. This just goes to show, like I have said all along Mr. Tucker and his secretary do NOT have the parks best interest in mind.
