Almost 150 Drivers are expected this weekend in Belgium at the Horensbergdam Genk circuit for one of the most important international Karting Competitions of the 2015 season, under the auspices of the RACB. The main issues are the awarding of the CIK-FIA European Championship titles in the KZ2 and KZ categories, while the Drivers in the CIK-FIA Karting Academy Trophy will race in their second Competition, which is decisive in the conquest of the Trophy.

A true temple of Karting, the Genk track founded by Paul Lemmens has generated a healthy influx of KZ2 drivers which will give a new appeal to the European Competition. A very popular track, located near several countries where 125cc gearbox karts are raced actively, Genk has planned a schedule which is most suitable for the conclusion of the CIK-FIA European Championships for KZ and KZ2. The important information to understand for this Competition is that the final ranking of the two Championships takes into account the two best results out of three (Qualifying Heats and Finals). Therefore the points total should be carefully watched to see the European results of 2015. The Belgian circuit has also repeatedly demonstrated its influence in the development of the young talents from around the world racing in the CIK-FIA Karting Academy Trophy.

Camponeschi cannot be caught in KZ.

Victorious at Sarno and Zuera, Flavio Camponeschi (Tony Kart-Vortex-B'stone) has already earned the maximum points available. Unless he is excluded from the Belgian Competition, which is very unlikely, the CIK-FIA European KZ Championship of 2015 is already his. The fight of the places of honour is nonetheless very open between Marco Ardigo (Tony Kart-Vortex-B'stone) and Ben Hanley (Croc Promotions-TM Racing-B'stone) for 2nd position, with Patrik Hajek (Formula K-Parilla-B'stone) also having a chance to be on the overall podium. Many drivers are capable of interfering in the battle for the win at Genk. Jordon Lennox-Lamb (BirelART-Parilla-B'stone), Jonathan Thonon (Praga-Parilla-B'stone) and Jorrit Pex (Intrepid-TM Racing-B'stone) know the track well, plus Paolo De Conto (CRG-Maxter-B'stone) and Anthony Abbasse (Sodi-TM-B'stone Racing) should be watched carefully.

Hiltbrand has the advantage in KZ2.

The victory of Pedro Hiltbrand (CRG SPA-Maxter-LeCont) in Spain has given him a relatively comfortable lead in the race for the title of CIK-FIA European Champion in KZ2. However, he is followed by a trio of drivers who are completely equal, 17 points behind him, ready to defend their chances until the last corner. Joel Johansson (Energy-TM Racing-LeCont), Paolo Besancenez (Tony Kart-Vortex-LeCont) and Luca Corberi (Tony Kart-Vortex-LeCont) may liven up the Competition at Genk. Now out of the running, Andreas Fasberg (Tony Kart-Vortex-LeCont) could, however, present himself as a strong contender for victory at the Belgian circuit, along with Marijn Kremers (BierlArt-Parilla-LeCont), Felice Tiene (CRG SPA-Maxter-LeCont) and Maik Siebecke (CRG-Modena Engines-LeCont). The list of outsiders is long enough to multiply the sporting interest at the Competition.

Decisive Competition for the Academy Trophy

The second of three Competitions in the CIK-FIA Karting Academy Trophy, Genk will play a major role in the overall victory between the young hopefuls from 35 different countries. Everything is possible for them at the wheel of their one-make Parolin-FIM-B'stone karts drawn randomly. The Spanish driver selected by the FIA "Women in Motorsport" Commission, Marta Garcia was highlighted at Zuera and leads the way by a short distance from Alfie Brown. Zakhar Slutskiy isn’t far off in 3rd position followed by Xavier Lloveras Brunet and Alejandro Lopez Lahoz. But the ranking is far from fixed at this stage with 51 entries in the Competition and the Genk track, very different from Zuera, could allow other talents to be revealed.
